Getting up early keeps you happy and skinny!

We blogged last week about a study which said that being a night owl can lead to health problems, and more research revealed this week has found that getting up early can help keep you happy and thin.

Research from Roehampton University has found that those of us who are up and ready to face the day earlier are likely to be happier and more productive, and less likely to put weight on compared to those who repeatedly press the snooze button and rush out of bed at the last minute.

Morning people generally get out of bed at 6.58am, whereas night owls will get up at 8.54am. On weekends both groups treat themselves to lie-ins with early birds getting up at 7.47am and evening people waking up at 10.09am.

Dr. Joerg Huber from Roehampton University said: “There are morning people and evening people, and morning people tend to be healthier and happier as well as having lower body mass indices.

“Maybe morning types are just better suited to this industrial world we are in, than late risers.”

Night owls who can’t get themselves to go to sleep of an evening should look to invest in a new comfortable luxury mattress to make bed time more appealing. Many people find that they don’t get enough sleep due to an uncomfortable bed keeping them awake, so ensure you’re up and ready to face the day with a new mattress from the Odd Mattress Company.
