Are you a night owl or an early bird? What times you go to bed affects your quality of sleep according to new research in a medical journal.

“Evening-type individuals” are more likely to suffer from poor quality of sleep, as well as sleepiness during the day and even disturbing nightmares than those of us who stick to the ‘early to bed, early to rise’ routine.

The study was produced by Yavuz Selvi, the assistant professor of psychiatry at Yuzuncu Yil University in Turkey, and was published in the journal Sleep and Biological Rhythms.

It’s not only your sleep which is affected according to Mr Selvi. He said: “A possible relationship has emerged between eveningness and certain mental disorders, including substance abuse, bulimia, sleep disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, suicidality and mood disorders”.

Problems sleeping can also be caused by an uncomfortable bed, so if you have an old worn out mattress which is stopping you from sleeping well, why not visit the Odd Mattress Company to find a perfect new mattress for you.
