Brits woken up twice a night by distractions and noises

A new study has found that we’re disturbed on average twice a night and the average time we wake up is 3.44am.

Dripping taps, loud neighbours and pets are some the most common reasons for people being woken in the night. Your partner could also be disturbing you, with many people saying their other half snoring or kicking them in their sleep wakes them up.

We’re not only being woken up in the middle of the night, but we’re also struggling to get to sleep in the first place. Four in ten of us struggle to fall asleep and the average person takes 46 minutes to fall asleep every night.

Not getting enough sleep can have negative effects during the day. A half of the people surveyed for the research said that they felt tired all day long because of not getting enough sleep, and one in five people admitted nodding off during the day.

13% of people admitted falling asleep at work with another 11% saying that they had dropped off during a meeting.

A good way of getting to sleep is to ensure that you have a comfortable bed, and investing in a new luxury mattress could help you nod off faster.

Here at the Odd Mattress Company we create a wide range of relaxing made to measure mattresses to help you sleep better. Although we can’t guarantee to stop the distractions that wake you in the middle of the night, we can help you get back to sleep again!
